Adventure
As promised previously, here are some highlights from my recent trip to Yangon/Mandalay. Our seminar on the 9th was held at the Parkroyal Hotel Yangon and it was well attended with the entire seminar room completely filled!Lee Li and I met and talked to a lot of lovely folks there. I am happy to report that the interest in our school and our course continues to grow at a healthy rate.
Of course the trip wouldn't be complete with sampling local delicacies and we sure did! :D
The pictures were taken in a local restaurant and unfortunately I have no idea what they're called. I just pointed and ate!
For the first time we also had the opportunity to go to the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. On our last day Lee Li and I decided to visit the Pagoda at 6am. Absolutely no regrets! It was a truly amazing sight to behold. The pictures do not do justice to the magnificance of the entire place.
The first picture was taken when we got there. The entire pagoda was made of gold and there's a lot of story that goes into the Pagoda. We were very early so we didn't encounter the hordes of people that usually frequent the Pagoda. Unfortunately my Nike runners were stolen! We had to take our shoes off (out of respect) when we entered the Pagoda area and when I came back, they were gone. *sigh*
No choice but to buy a pair of Birky's which lasted me all the way back to Changi!
On our last morning there, we had a couple of spare hours so we went shopping! Lee Li told me she wouldn't buy much but as you can see, she certainly didn't "buy much"! She was on a roll and spent all her Kyat (Myanmar currency). She claimed she didn't want to keep the Kyat (yeah sure!).
