The return

Well I've returned from HK last Thursday and have spent days catching up on work and other stuff. It's been a blast. As promised, here are some pictures from the holiday:

The view from my seat onboard Jetstar.

We stayed with a good friend of mine who worked there. His bachelor's pad was on HK Island so we were very central to everything. On the left below, the view from his place. On the right below, a decent Thai restaurant which was almost right below his place! Next to that, a 24-hour dim sum place! What more could you ask for?

We went to Ocean Park which, in my opinion, was a lot more impressive than HK Disneyland. Unfortunately San didn't want to join me on the roller coaster so I had to ride it alone. It wasn't scary at all! :P The view, however, was simply breathtaking.

The food was fantastic. I tried several "cha chan tengs" which are the small shops that sold local food. We had dim sum at the award winning Maxim's City Hall . The food was truly heavenly. It was a bit pricey, the bill came to close to SGD$95 for 3 of us but trust me, it's the best dim sum I've eaten for a long long time. I had the most orgasmic lai wong bao ever. We ate so quickly, I forgot to take pictures. :(

We also went to have goose at the famous Yung Kee restaurant. It was recommended by 8Days so I thought we'd give it a go. My conclusion? If you like your duck/goose juicy, then this is the place for you. If you like it crispy, then this won't cut it. If you ever go, I recommend the wintermelon and crab meat soup. Absolutely delicious. Anyway, you can see the result below....

Of course we also had the famous mango desserts @ Hoi Lau Shan. We went to another place (can't remember the name) which was supposed to be better and it was! Check out the picture below, need I say more?

We also did a lot of shopping and I can say without a doubt that shopping there is 100% better than Singapore. So much variety, colour and in many cases, cheaper. The Esprit factory outlet was a good place to start. The service we encountered was outstanding everywhere. There were even friendly staff members greeting us when we shopped at Watsons! How about that Singapore?!?!?

After days of eating and lots of shopping, it was finally time to say good bye. I've spent all my HK dollars (and more!) but the overall experience was fantastic.

Hmmm...when can I return?

It's back to the grind... :)

It's the truth, the shopping there is waaaay better than Singapore. Anybody who's been there can confirm that. I read somewhere that in terms of service, HK is ranked 2nd in the world. I can vouch for that. :)
